Alec took it cautiously with dodgy knee. 3 miles on tarmac lanes, 4 miles in the forest, 3 miles road (downhill). Another tough course - 1st half mainly uphill, with long drag to 5-mile mark. Some of the tracks very muddy after last weeks heavy rains.

Well organised, plenty of water stations, plus hose-pipe showers en-route. 10 min walk downhill to start in town, so overall uphill course. Just pipped by 5secs for 1st v55 (not enough strength to catch up). A few other NFR runners there. Shoe sale (Blandford Sports)

Similar course to last time (2004): Long walk/jog to start. Crowded start, 1st mile downhill but couldn't get going; back up same hill at end. Very hard 2nd half after turn back into freezing wind. Faster than expected, as managed to tuck in behind helpful gent going into wind.
